01. When do you need a scaffold engineer?

A scaffold engineer is required when scaffolding designs are complex, non-standard, or exceed basic safety guidelines. Situations involving high loads, unusual configurations, or challenging site conditions typically demand expert design. Additionally, federal code 29CFR1926.452©6 states that scaffolds over 125 feet in height must be designed by a registered professional engineer. 02. At what height does a scaffold need to be engineered?

According to Code of Federal Regulations, scaffolds more than 125 feet in height above the base must be designed by a registered professional engineer. This ensures the structure can safely support loads, withstand environmental forces, and maintain stability. Always consult a qualified scaffold engineer to verify compliance with OSHA standards.

03. What are the primary three types of scaffolding?

The most common forms of scaffolding are: Supported, Rolling and Suspended: Platforms hung by ropes or chains, often used for tasks like high-rise building maintenance.

Supported Scaffolding: Constructed from the ground up with frames or poles, ideal for general construction work.
