The process of using computer-aided design software to create digital models of objects or areas based on accurate, real world information.
02. Can the 3D model be exported into other software (Revit, AutoCAD etc.)?
Yes, our 3D models can be exported in standard formats such as AutoCAD (.dwg), OBJ (.obj), IFC (.ifc), and 3D Studio (.3ds), with additional formats available as needed. While most 3D software can import these models, visual elements like materials and textures may have limitations. However, all exported models retain accurate component property data and dimensions.
03. Will contractors be able to use 3D models on-site, or will they still rely on 2D drawings?
Contractors can access 3D models through Trimble Connect, allowing full model navigation via a web-based platform. While 2D construction drawings remain our standard for on-site use, we enhance clarity by including 3D views, especially for complex solutions.
04. Will using 3D models help prevent project delays or unexpected on-site issues, thus reducing costs and material waste?
Yes, 3D design enables us to detect clashes and interferences early in the design process, minimizing costly rework and delays. Additionally, we integrate load calculations and engineering analysis within our 3D models, ensuring structural accuracy and efficiency.
